Hi, what's the expected latency for a simple request like
/sessions/whoami
for Ory-hosted Kratos? I'm running
Copy code
time curl https://$<http://ORY_PROJECT_SLUG.oryapis.com/sessions/whoami|ORY_PROJECT_SLUG.oryapis.com/sessions/whoami>
and I'm getting the responses after 400-500ms. I'm currently on the free tier, not sure if that's relevant. I didn't find any mention of this in the docs. This response time seems quite excessive, is this the expected performance?

Hello Mateusz, this is definitely too high response time. Where are you located? We recently added a cache feature that improves the latency of authenticated requests a lot. I will talk to the team and investigate.

We're in south-eastern Canada. I also just noticed that adding the Ory Proxy adds ~250-350 ms to all requests (all requests, also the ones directly going to the service). We are currently on version
v0.1.40
of Ory CLI. I think version
v0.1.41
introduced a breaking change and we locked it then. I'm happy to discuss details
Hi @magnificent-energy-493, did you have any luck asking your team about this? 🙂

Hello @acoustic-insurance-23566 apologies for the late answer! I got it wrong before, the chache feature is not actually rolled out to users yet. But we are finishing it up right now and should be ready by next week, definitely in December this year. It will improve the latency a lot to around 50-100ms It will not be available on the free tier, but for Business and upwards plans and you can enable it through the UI. Will share more information as it becomes available. PS: Could you send future questions to the #ory-network channel please, that helps us keep track of it (My bad, I need to make this clearer in the slack onboarding)
