Ory was founded in 2015 and is on track to secure 1 Trillion API requests this year. It is used by big banks, small start ups, and everything in between.
Ory is the most production ready system you will find in this space 😉

Full disclosure, we’re pushing most people to the cloud as it is much easier and more scalable to operate and support that than it is to support hundreds of companies in running Ory against the local MySQL, Postgres, Cockroach, … stack in Kubernetes, baremetal, heroku, … 🙂
Support for DYI deployments we only do on rare occasions.

At the moment you cant use an external db in the cloud @mammoth-country-5949. We might consider this in the future, feel free to also bring it up with Carlo 🙂
One solution that some users choose is to use Ory Cloud for most deploys and an on premise deploy in edge cases.
