Hey Ory team :wave:

We can see that Kratos tables and entities contain both an `id`  and a `nid`  fields.
~When creating an identity, both are equal.~ And in the source code it seems that `nid`  stands for `Network ID` .

What is the difference between those 2 identifier fields? ~What would happen if they were to differ, would that be a problem?~ :slightly_smiling_face:

EDIT: I'm still curious about the network ID semantics, but it's not equal to the `id`  - I misread because I stumbled across to UUIDs with the same starting chars :sweat_smile:

I've always seen the network ID as a tenant ID

We’re planning to use it once you can connect your open source instance to the ory network. But this is still a few quarters out …
