Hi, we’re a bit behind the release schedule as we focused on Ory Hydra 2.0! Regarding your question with SuperTokens (I’m probably a bit skewed 😉 ) - Ory has a much longer track record, is trusted by industry leaders, publishes OSS since 2014, has a complete suite of capabilities (e.g. OAuth2 provider, google zanzibar, zero trust proxy, …), and has more funding and resources. What features compare to what in SuperTokens (or not) I can’t say, but it’s a really good idea to add comparison pages to our product marketing 🙂
I guess SuperTokens is more like a Firebase Auth system - you get everything in one big Java application. Ory is more like lego - you combine different services in the way you need for your specific use case 🙂

Is there a hydra vs kratos feature table?
h
It’s more of a conceptual difference than a difference in features. Here’s the blog post: https://www.ory.sh/oauth2-openid-connect-do-you-need-use-cases-examples/

as a non expert in this field the terminology is very confusing
Copy code
Ory Hydra is a modern, open-source, and easy-to-use OAuth2 and OpenID Connect server that can connect to and interface with any user system (e.g. Ory Kratos).
so Kratos is a user system
Why not makea table that lists functionality in clear language comparing the Ory products themselves

Absolutely, we are working on better documentation to make all of this easier to grasp :)

I guess I need kratos since I'm making login pages and replacing our custom auth in a series of webapps
but various sites will be talking to each other, so maybe hydra would be in there somewhere
You think kratos dev will taper off now that hydra is new and cool, or will the releases become more regular again after hydra 2 is out?

definitely we will have a release soon dev did not stop, just have a look what happened since the last release: https://github.com/ory/kratos/compare/v0.10.1...master btw, Ory Network follows a rolling release strategy, once we stabilized the experimental features there we release them in the open source as well
