It’s always much easier to start with the end in mind. Migration is always a pain and a lot of work. Therefore I would say it’s better to start with cloud right away :)

I think what hackerman meant is that you can of course move to a self-hosted instance of Ory in the future.

That move will require work - how much depends on your usecase with Ory.
But we will enable you to export all required data from Ory Cloud + you can reuse most of the configuration.

We also provide support and professional services - at the moment only in special cases, but we are always open to talk.
