I was just trying to get a basic setup going and was looking at the examples, there was one nextjs example, one using handlebarsjs and the native example, which looked like the easiest to understand & adapt to me (which in hindsight probably wasn't 😅). Now I found https://www.ory.sh/docs/kratos/bring-your-own-ui/custom-ui-ory-elements (which I really think should be included on the examples page), that is working for me.
