Apologies, another question • Is the managed Keto service run by Ory (the Ory Network) the same alpha version as is present in GitHub? • Does this imply ‘alpha’ is considered production ready? • If so, is there any semantic implication to ‘alpha’?

Hey @helpful-traffic-4919, yes, keto is what we use for the permissioning service in Ory Network. Here is a good read on the state of the products and versions.
Ory only releases software that is stable and ready for production
With Ory Network, we take care of migrations and upgrades.

Thanks Tommy. Judging by Keto being alpha - thus sandbox - it shouldn’t be considered production ready. Is that fair? And if so, how does that tie with the Ory network website? There’s nothing on there I’ve seen to say that the Ory network permission service - i.e. Keto - is not safe to integrate against

The sandbox/incubating stage is an indicator of how much the API could change in the future, including backward incompatible changes.

Ha, sorry, missed the headline at the top:
Ory only releases software that is stable and ready for production!
So alpha isn’t an indication of production worthiness, rather an indication of API stability - got it Thanks again Tommy

no worries :-) We always let customers know well in advance if there are any breaking changes to APIs. With Ory Network we also have more capabilities to support backward compatibility.
