We (ory) would be interested in that topic too! 🙂

I do think it has the potential to replace current workforce idp & SSO products that currently cost an arm and a leg. There may be some features that are missing on Ory (to my knowledge) such as: • Duo's "Adaptive Access Policies" • Duo's "Device Trust" • Auth0's "Adaptive MFA" Boiling it all down, I would say Context Aware Access and Adaptive MFA. However, these may be out of scope for the Ory suite. If not, I would love to see these! I know for us, it would make it easier to use Ory as our replacement without loosing features.

We support adaptive MFA! It’s actually more configurable than auth0's approach. We should probably document it like Auth0 has documented it: https://auth0.com/docs/secure/multi-factor-authentication/adaptive-mfa @fast-lunch-54279 @thousands-vase-40385

This has made my day 👏🏻

step up authentication is a synonym for adaptive mfa. it means that you request mfa at some point in your app. in ory, you can set the security polixy to “lax” and then ask for mfa when the user accesses a specific page for example

Thanks for this! I believe there is an opportunity here to maybe boost some SEO on this topic. Even just having a simple single page that discusses Adaptive MFA that could be thrown on the website and indexed would help those who use this term when searching for potential solutions. The current results for
ory adaptive mfa
does not point you fully in the right direction. I anticipate from a user behavior standpoint, leadership would not spend as much time digging through information to find this solution in Kratos. They probably would only go as far as the main website. Just a thought!
